(1:12 PM 4/19/2007) cpmike: hey shawn. i have a quick question... my friend is running a full crower top end setup, stage 2 i believe... anyhoo the rocker arms had to be shaved on the underside to clear the retainers. standard procedure. now hes been having problems and believe it or not, he needs to replace his intake side rocker arms (lol... no luck for us up here). he has an extra set of stock ones, but heres my question: do the rockers need to be grinded down in any specific, precise way? my first thought would be to just take a dremel to them and clear some space, but it wont be perfect and im not sure if slight weight differences between the rockers matters, or anything of the sort. we are hoping to avoid taking them to a machine shop, for monetary and time reasons. any input would help greatly. thanks. - mike (2:27 PM 4/19/2007) Rosko: http://www.m1xe.com/pics/shavedrocker1.jpg (2:27 PM 4/19/2007) Rosko: http://www.m1xe.com/pics/shavedrocker2.jpg (2:30 PM 4/19/2007) Rosko: I take them to a pedestal grinder and basically where the round part kinda bulges out on the bottom... just kinda grind that away and make it smooth. It prolly takes less than a minute a piece on a pedestal grinder. Be sure the valve is all the way closed when you do, or just check them as your lashing them in. (2:40 PM 4/19/2007) Rosko: I wouldn't worry about ballancing them or anything, I've never know anyone too any ways. As long as you don't get too crazy you'll be fine, I'm sure they are not all that balanced from the factory anyways.
